How to choose an English language course.

There are many things to consider when choosing and English language course but first you have to decide which English school. Although the following information applies to most languages we will concentrate on English simply because we know more people wish to learn English and information is that bit more useful.

Most good schools will have some sort of accreditation. The most widely accepted is the British Council however there are many other organisations such as English First. Please note that if a school does not have accreditation there can be many good reasons however it is a good starting point.

You do want to attend an English language course course full of students from your own country, otherwise you will spend your free time speaking your native language rather than English. Unfortunately most English schools will not wish to warn you of this potential problem so you should ask specific questions and indeed ask for guarantees. You may feel that asking for guarantees is a little excessive but it is not uncommon for an English school to use summer as an excuse to increase the number of students in your class ie above the number of students as per their advertising.

Indeed this brings us on to the final point. The number of students attending your class is vital. You will obviously learn a lot more English if the class size is genuinely small. Finally, bear in mind that you are spending a lot of money getting to the UK, Ireland etc, your English language course will probably be surprisingly expensive and if you have a regular job you will be sacrificing holiday time so as to attend the course. With this in mind we recommend an intensive course or even a one to one course.
